A MysterE

A MysterE has been playing the guitar for 14 years, but hadn't performed his own tunes in front of an audience until about three years ago. Since then, he has developed himself as a soul searcher through his lyrics. Autobiographical? Sometimes, but he goes deep. Not odd he characterizes his songs as "Music that goes through your spine," cause that's exactly what they do. A photo of A MysterE playing at Paradiso In a style he compares to a melting pot of Elliott Smith, Nick Drake, Jeff Buckley George Harrison and Paul Weller. Go see him and listen to his breathtaking songs.

He was the musical guest in the Christmas show of Dutch comedian Margreet Dolman at the Betty Asfalt Complex in Amsterdam. A MysterE made his well earned debut at the famous Engelenbak Theater, at the Open Bak and a couple of days later he had his first National Paper review in Het Parool.

A bit later he got much acclaim with his anti-Bush/Iraq war song ‘Impeach the President’, you can even download the demo (mp3) through the official site of Neil Young where he made it on to the 34th position of this ‘chart’. In the meantime he performed no less than 50 times in 2006. This year his work of songs is broadening and so are his shows, incl. where he performs, all over The Netherlands, and when he gets the chance also abroad. Recently he has performed twice live on radio station AmsterdamFM. At the end of July A MysterE has made his well earned debut at the legendary concert hall the Paradiso in Amsterdam where many of his musical heroes have preceded him.

Yori Swart

My name is Yori Swart and I'm a singer and a songwriter since my earlier years. I'm 18 years old and studying on the Conservatory in Amsterdam. That's a school for musicians. Since I was 13 years old I started writing songs. Mostly about the normal stuff but my interest was more focus on the world. What was going on and how I think we're all living. Of course no-one should be bothered by it. I just hope people will think about more than just a new phone or car and be aware of what they're doing. I'm trying to create an own sound and style but of course that won't be easy. So many things and artists inspire me and you'll probably hear the influence back in my music. But this is not something old, neither self-evident, it's Yori.

The Woodwards

A photo of the Woodwards performing

Born in Baarn, The Netherlands in 1958 Peter moved to the new world in '67 and lived in New York from '80 until '04 in the Chelsea Hotel. Having picked up his first guitar after leaving New York in 2004, Peter went to Vancouver for a year and this is when the name 'The Woodwards' came. After a year in Canada Peter wrote the first song he ever sang.

Since then things have come a long way, Peter eventually made his way back to Holland and has recently completed an album working with producer Attie Bauw which will be released through Rough Trade Records.

With influences including Tom Waits, T.S Elliot, Leonard Cohen and Smokey Robinson it's difficult to put The Woodwards in any one genre, other than perhaps infectious!
